E-invoicing means sending invoices as machine-readable structured data instead of PDFs or paper. The industry standard is UBL 2.1 XML (Universal Business Language), often delivered via the Peppol network.
The point: when your customer's bookkeeping software receives a UBL invoice, it can import the invoice automatically — no OCR, no re-typing, no errors. Every field (customer name, invoice number, line items, VAT amounts, IBAN) is structured data the software understands directly.
A Peppol invoice is a UBL file delivered over the Peppol network. UBL delivered by email attachment is also valid; it just travels via inbox instead of network.
